Canterbury Bulldogs utility back Will Hopoate

On the back of a very solid 2019 season, the Canterbury Bulldogs have re-signed utility back Will Hopoate.

Hopoate’s new deal will run until the end of 2021, as the club looks to build upon their late season success.

In what was somewhat of a poor season overall, Hopoate was a shining light from fullback week in and week out.

“Will has just come off an outstanding season and it is great news for the club that he has committed to us until the end of 2021,” said Bulldogs coach Dean Pay.

“He is the heart and soul of everything that we are about and his consistency and toughness are there every week.”

A move to centre than ensued but Hopoate’s form did not drop or wane, it remained consistent.

“He was able to switch from full-back to centre and continue to produce great performances,” Pay continued.

“It was a just reward for him to be named Player of the Year.

“We look forward to Will being a big part of our future.”
