Family is everything and as Shannon Boyd struggled with injury, he had to contemplate his future, so the prop has been released by the Gold Coast Titans.
Boyd’s decision does not come lightly but with limited playing time due to injuries, Boyd will retire and return to the family farm.
That farm is in Cowra and despite coming to the Titans with fanfare, the decision to retire is one the club respects.
Boyd played for the Canberra Raiders before joining the Titans in 2019.
Boyd, a hulking prop, also played four Tests for Australia and his contribution to the Titans was not forgotten.
“Shannon has been frustrated by injuries preventing him from being able to deliver his best footy at the Titans, and because of that, he asked the Club for a release from his contract to return home to country NSW,” Mitchell said.
“This was obviously a tough decision for Shannon, but one that he has made in the best interests of his family.
“We wish nothing but the best for Shannon and his young family, and we thank them for the contribution they have made to the Gold Coast Titans.”
