A new home will await Jake Clifford from 2022, with the young half signing with the Newcastle Knights from the season after next.
Clifford, who is still contracted to the Cowboys for 2021, was not given an early release.
Instead, he has signed a deal ahead of time and will join the Knights for two seasons from 2022.
Since debuting in 2018, Clifford has played in 35 NRL games.
In and out of the side, he will hope to establish himself in 2021 to show his suitors for 2022 in the Knights, that he can be a force.
The Knights see Clifford as a solid fit for their side and await his arrival from 2022.
“When the opportunity arose to sign Jake, I thought it was a perfect fit for both parties,” Knights Head of Recruitment Clint Zammit said.
“We believe he will grow alongside the likes of Mitchell Pearce, both as a player and as a person.
“He’s a good young talent from a good family and will be a great addition to both our playing group and the Knights for a long time.”
