In what is perhaps a surprising move, Esan Marsters will depart the North Queensland Cowboys to join the Gold Coast Titans effective immediately.
Marsters, who has been in and out of the Cowboys side since joining, was released from the final 18 months of his contract.
Although his time at the Cowboys was a challenging one, the club wished Marsters well moving forward.
“We wish him and his family all the best for the future.”
Marsters will join the Titans on a two year deal and coach Justin Holbrook welcomes the signing.
“Esan is a quality player and will fit in really well with what we’re building at the Titans,” Holbrook said.
“He’ll bring energy and effort and he also brings experience having played test football six times for New Zealand and once for the Cook Islands.“
The signing of Marsters comes after both Corey Thompson and Patrick Herbert suffered injuries.
“With Corey Thompson and Patrick Herbert on the sidelines, there’s no doubt he will be an important player in the short term for our side but he also adds plenty as we build our roster for finals football for this year and beyond,” continued Holbrook.
“We look forward to welcoming him to the Gold Coast and we’re excited about him becoming a Titan.”
