He put the NRL on notice with a try on debut in 2019 and although he has had ups and downs, Jayden Okunbor has penned a new deal with the Canterbury Bulldogs.

Okunbor’s new deal will see him stay with the Bulldogs until the end of 2023.

Okunbor has come through the Bulldogs junior pathways system and is a local junior from the Milperra Colts.

After returning to action this past week from an ACL injury, Bulldogs CEO Aaron Warburton knows the best is yet to come for Okunbor.

“Jayden is an outstanding talent who burst onto the scene in 2019 and was able to make his mark immediately,” Warburton said.

Everyone remembers a barnstorming game against the Storm that season where he was able to run over the top of some great players and show the type of threat he is with the ball.”

Warburton went on to say that Okunbor is always looking to improve his game and knows the depth the club has will put them in good stead.

“He has since worked hard on other aspects of his game and it was great to see him get back on to the field on Sunday night,” Warburton continued.

He is a destructive runner, who added to our other backline signings for next season, will create a great attacking threat in this competition.”
