Despite having two years on his contract still to go, the Canterbury Bulldogs and Adam Elliott have opted to part ways.
The decision comes after Elliott was stood down for the final two matches of the 2021 season after he was kicked out of the White Rhino Bar and Eats restaurant.
Elliott was fined $10,000 and ordered to undergo training and education but the Bulldogs made the call to let him go.
Bulldogs Chief Executive Aaron Warburton said the club will continue to support Elliott during this time.
“Adam and the Bulldogs have decided it is in the best interests of both parties to go our separate ways,” Warburton said.
“The Club is committed to supporting Adam during this time.
“We wish Adam all the best for the future.”
The decision came after the embattled forward met with the club via Zoom call where his fate was sealed.
