North Queensland Cowboys fans have been raving about Peter Hola which made his release all the more surprising.
Hola, still a young forward, has already drawn comparisons to Jason Taumaolo in more ways than one.
Now, however, his development and career will continue at the Canberra Raiders as he signs for two years with the option of a third.
Hola came through the Cowboys academy and after debuting in 2019, played in 12 games for the Cowboys.
The Cowboys thanked Hola for his time at the club and wished him the best at the Raiders.
“We would like to thank Pete for his service during his time at our club,” Cowboys General Manager of Football Micheal Luck said.
“He was a valued member of our playing group during his three seasons in the NRL squad and we would like to wish him all the best for the future.”
Hola’s forward versatility at either prop or back-row is a factor that excites the Raiders.
“Peter’s a big body shape but is also very mobile,” Raiders Recruitment and High-Performance Manager Peter Mulholland said.
He’s predominantly a middle forward but can also play in the back row if needed.”
“He definitely fits the mould of the next generation of forwards coming through, he’s a big guy with a big engine and great leg speed so he’ll be a player who we can help to continue his development.”
