Andrew Johns, a prodigal son of the Newcastle Knights, will return to the club in a new coaching role.
Johns, who is a Knights legend and a life member with 249 games to his name, has been appointed in a coaching consultant role.
Winning two premierships as a player, the club is thrilled to see Johns return to the Knights.
“Having Andrew join the staff is a significant moment in the history of our Club,” Knights CEO Philip Gardner said.
“His Rugby League knowledge is unmatched anywhere in the world and he will be an excellent addition to the team.
“Joey’s return marks the beginning of an incredibly exciting period in our Club’s history and we can’t wait to see him get to work.”
Johns, the eighth NRL Immortal, will commence his new role upon the resumption of pre-season training.
