Parramatta Eels fans needed some good news and they have it, with captain Clint Gutherson re-signing until 2025.
After losing Isaiah Papali’i and Marata Niukore from the 2023 season, Eels fans were in the doldrums.
But the re-signing of captain Gutherson, a key player and a crucial piece to their cog, will give fans renewed hope that more is to come.
Although never seen by many as a top-tier fullback in the game, Gutherson’s numbers are impressive and consistent.
In 2021, he averaged 170 running metres per game and had 20 try assists, more than many halves.
Gutherson’s re-signing is a big one for the Eels as ‘King Gutho’ will continue to provide the link-up play alongside half Mitch Moses.
Eels General Manager of Football Mark O’Neill praised Gutherson’s work ethic, commitment and determination.
“Clint is a key leader of the club and the energy and commitment he brings to work every day is unparalleled,” O’Neill said.
“Additionally, his on-field performances week in and week out are always at a consistently high level.”
