Home is where the heart is and for Blayke Brailey, that is the Cronulla Sharks.
So, it should come as no surprise to anyone that Brailey has opted to re-sign with the Sharks long-term.
Brailey’s new contract is a four-year deal starting from 2023, with the young hooker already contracted for 2022.
It was as a 13-year-old that Brailey’s adventure with the Sharks began and he was keen to continue his Sharks association.
“It’s the place I grew up, I was a local junior, I obviously wanted to stay here, so I’m excited to be a part of the future,” Brailey said.
“This was my first choice, I really wanted to stay, so I’m grateful to get it done.”
With 59 NRL games to his name so far, Brailey is one for the future and still has plenty of development in his game.
Brailey is excited about the opportunity to work under new head coach Craig Fitzgibbon.
“He (Fitzgibbon) was good about the whole situation and a reason why I wanted to stay,” Brailey said.
“The first two weeks have been great, he’s a really knowledgeable coach and I’m excited to be working under him.”
