Already established as one of the elite props in the NRL, Addin Fonua-Blake will stay on at the New Zealand Warriors for the long term.
Fonua-Blake has signed a three-year extension until the end of 2026.
In the eyes of the Warriors, being able to retain Fonua-Blake for so long and so early is a boost for the club long-term.
“Having a player of Addin’s calibre for a further five years is absolutely huge for us,” said Warriors CEO Cameron George.
“While he has had just one season with us he wanted to settle his long-term future well in advance of his current deal.”
Fonua-Blake knows that the Warriors is the best place for he and his family and he cannot wait to get stuck in yet again.
“I love being here and I’m excited about what’s ahead of us,” said Fonua-Blake.
“My family also loves it here and we can’t wait to get over to New Zealand and really experience what the club is all about.”
While most players wait until the last six to twelve months to decide their future, Fonua-Blake wanted it sorted now for peace of mind.
“It just made sense to me to commit for the long-term right now,” Fonua-Blake said.
“I didn’t want the distraction of contract negotiations later this year. I wanted it all sorted out now so my focus can be on playing footy for this club.”
