The second pre-season trial for the New Zealand Warriors and the Gold Coast Titans has been cancelled completely due to the drenching on the Gold Coast.

The trial was originally scheduled to be played at Moreton Daily Stadium in Redcliffe on Saturday just gone, but was postponed due to the amount of rain received in the Moreton Bay region leading up to the trial and over the weekend, with Redcliffe seeing over 200mls alone on Sunday.

The game was then rescheduled for tonight and to be played behind closed gates at CBUS Stadium in the Gold Coast but that wasn’t meant to be, as the weather continued to cause havoc down the Queensland coastline and into the Northern Rivers of New South Wales.

The decision was made to cancel the trial game completely earlier today, and while it is disappointing, it is the safest option as it is unknown how long it will take for fields to dry out and player safety must be the priority going into the season.

The Warriors will start their 2022 campaign against St George Illawarra Dragons on Saturday March 12 at Sunshine Coast Stadium and the Titans will play Parramatta Eels on Sunday March 13th at CommBank Stadium.
