After overcoming a series of injuries throughout the 2021 season, the light at the end of the tunnel for Edrick Lee has come after re-signing at the Newcastle Knights for 2022.

Believing his career was finished at one point, Lee re-signs with a real chance to feature for the Knights throughout the season.

Since joining the club in 2019, Lee made a strong impact and had many Knights fans impressed.

With 116 NRL games to his name and 59 tries, Lee has plenty to offer and knows how to find the try line.

Knights coach Adam O’Brien praised Lee for his positivity, his form, and his popularity among the playing group and fans.

“Eddie plays a significant role in our club, he is extremely popular both on and off the field,” O’Brien said.

“His impact is huge, bringing a lot of joy to all our lives and to our community.”

O’Brien also praised the determination that Lee showed to overcome his injury-riddled 2021.

“I have personally witnessed how gritty and determined he has been to get through the last couple of years, it’s a real credit to him,” O’Brien continued.

“From a footy perspective, we have missed his experience, try-scoring, and powerful carries from the back of the field.

“Eddie also gives us a great aerial target on the last play with his height and athleticism.”

The road back to NRL has been a long one for Lee and he is pleased to have the chance once again.

“I’m grateful and excited. It’s been a long journey coming back from the injury,” said Lee.

“Just grateful to be able to put pen to paper and focus on the season ahead.”
