Perhaps a surprise for some Parramatta Eels fans with assistant coach David Kidwell stepping down effective immediately to take up a new role.
Kidwell, who enjoyed stints at the Eels as both a player and a coach, will embark on a new chapter with the Argentinian rugby union side, Los Pumas.
In 2018, Kidwell joined the Eels as an assistant. Prior to that, he was an assistant at the Wests Tigers and the Melbourne Storm.
Kidwell has also coached both the New Zealand Kiwi side and is the current coach of the Indigenous Maori team.
Eels head coach admits that he will miss Kidwell and has enjoyed having him as assistant but a chance to broaden his horizons overseas was too good to pass up.
“Kiddy is a popular member of the Club and while we are sad to see him go, we’re also happy for him and wish him the best in his next chapter,” said Arthur.
“He has a really good opportunity at Argentine Rugby and we’re glad we are able to provide a pathway for him to pursue.”
