Ignoring any rival overtures, Selwyn Cobbo has inked a new two-year deal with the Brisbane Broncos until the end of 2025.
Already contracted for 2023, the Broncos had to act quickly and they have done so, with the excitement machine in Cobbo impressing many fans and pundits.
With 13 games to his name so far, Cobbo has scored an impressive 11 tries and looks dangerous with every touch of the ball.
At just 19, the Cherbourg local was given an Origin berth, one he is also making the most of as a player.
Broncos coach Kevin Walters knows that keeping Cobbo was crucial for the club moving forward.
“Selwyn has a great sense of the game, great skill and anticipation and a feel for the game – he is a wonderful young player and this is great news for the Broncos,” Walters said.
“I feel that the bigger the occasion, the more involved he gets and the better he goes and we have seen that from his first game in first grade, he’s getting better all the time.”
Walters also praised Cobbo’s work ethic and his ability to just smile and always be happy about life and footy.
“I just love the way Selwyn goes about his work – he’s always got a smile on his face and we love having him at the Broncos,” Walters continued.
“The environment that Selwyn and his teammates are creating themselves is huge for us and we feel we’re on the right pathway as far as growing our culture as a team and a club.”
