A hard-working player during his playing days, former NRL and SL player Ben Farrar has been appointed as the head coach for the New York side for their upcoming season.
Farrar, who played for the Manly Sea Eagles, North Queensland Cowboys, London Broncos and Catalans Dragons, transitioned into coaching post playing career.
Farrar’s coaching career has seen him work mostly with the Newcastle Knights to date, both with their pathways system and their NRLW side.
The chance to coach the New York side for the upcoming NARL season is an opportunity Farrar looks forward to.
“I am honoured to be announced head coach/player of the NY rugby league team,” Farrar said.
“It is a position of great significance and one I am honoured to be appointed to.”
Farrar hopes his experience as a player and a coach can help the New York side during the season.
“I look forward to bringing my playing and coaching experience to the states and help setting up a club with enormous potential. I can’t wait to get started,” Farrar continued.
Justin Tucker, NYRL CEO, is pleased to have someone like Farrar on board and believes he is a good fit for the team as coach.
“It is exciting to have Ben join us, not just a player with both NRL and Super League experience, but as someone who has been coaching in the Junior’s and Women’s,” Tucker said.
“I believe he can help grow and mold the raw talent of American players and athletes, who might have the same number of years of rugby league experience.”
