Fijian rugby sevens star Taniela Sadrugu has signed a one year extension with the North Queensland Cowboys and earned a top 30 spot in the process.Sadrugu, who joined the Cowboys at the beginning of the 2022 season on a train and trial deal, sees his efforts pay off.

Initially seen as a forward, Sadrugu has since transitioned into a centre and has enjoyed a solid season with the Townsville Blackhawks, the Cowboys feeder team.

Sadrugu’s opening 12 months have impressed the club and General Manager of Football Micheal Luck lauded his commitment and effort.

“We’ve been extremely impressed with both Taniela’s work ethic at training and his performances on the field during his first 12 months at our club,” Luck said.

“He’s extremely gifted physically, but he’s also showed a strong ability to learn the game and we’re excited to see how he progresses over the course of the next 12 months.”
