As is the way in rugby league, you go where opportunities take you and Joe Stimson’s latest comes for the Gold Coast Titans.
Still only 26, Stimson has previously enjoyed stints at the Melbourne Storm and most recently the Canterbury Bulldogs.
With three seasons spent at both clubs, Stimson was able to put together 21 games in 2022 for the Bulldogs.
Titans coach Justin Holbrook believes Stimson will be a good fit for the club, identifying him as the sort of forward the club was chasing.
“Joe is the sort of player that we were chasing – someone who has experience at NRL level who can really do a job for us in a position that we were looking to reinforce,” Holbrook said.
“He’s predominantly an edge player but can also play through the middle and his versatility will be important for our pack.”
As he nears 100 NRL games in his career, Holbrook will look to use Stimson’s experience within the team throughout the season.
“He’s at the stage of his career now where he is pushing towards 100 NRL games, he’s played in an NRL grand final and we think he will be a great addition to our side for 2023,” Holbrook added.
