Hastings will join a new club from 2023 in a move that has left Wests Tigers baffled and Newcastle Knights fans cheering.
After just 12 months with the Tigers, the club have opted to release him early to sign a deal with the Knights.
As the Tigers undergo an overhaul of their roster that they believe is needed, they were grateful to Hastings during his time at the club.
“On behalf of Wests Tigers, I would like to wish Jackson the very best with his future and thank him for his efforts over the past 12 months,” said club CEO Justin Pascoe.
For the Knights, they are delighted to be picking up a player like Hastings in his prime.
“We are delighted to have Jackson secured,” Knights Director of Football Parr said.
“He compliments our playing roster and adds further depth to our halves, with the additional bonus of being a competent goal kicker.
“Jackson is at a stage of his career where he is coming into his prime and we believe his best years are ahead of him.”
