It is not often that the Penrith junior base lose one of their own but the Cronulla Sharks have managed to sign talented Niwhai Puru for two seasons.
Puru will spend the 2023 season as a developmental player before joining the full-time squad in 2024.
Puru’s move to the Sharks was made possible after the Penrith Panthers granted the young half an early release.
Sharks coach Craig Fitzgibbon sees Puru has a nice fit for their club and likes many of the traits he has to offer.
“Niwhai is an impressive young talent and an excellent fit for our club,” said Fitzgibbon
“He displays great attitude and skill level and we’re excited to have him onboard for at least the next two seasons and to watching him develop.”
