It has been somewhat of a rocky beginning for Sean Russell and his NRL career but the Parramatta have shown the faith in the local junior, keeping him on until the end of 2025.

It was his stellar debut last year against the Gold Coast Titans that saw him score a first-half hat-trick before a collision into his ribs saw him suffer a painful long-term rib injury and a punctured lung.

After a few setbacks on the way, Russell has made his way back into the first-grade side and will look to cement that spot moving forward.

Eels General Manager of Football said the club is committed to keeping the juniors they have faith in and that Russell is one of those.

“The Eels are committed to developing players and we look forward to seeing many more juniors work their way through to the NRL,” said O’Neill.

“We’re incredibly proud of Sean, not just for his hard work and dedication, but also his wonderful character off the field.”
