Although many know Jake Granville as the North Queensland Cowboys premiership-winning hooker, Granville has been Mr Fix-It for the club in recent years.
Filling in wherever required at times during games, his versatility, toughness and work ethic have not gone unnoticed as the Cowboys opt to keep him around for season 2024.
This will signal a 10th season at the club for Granville and 200 games which will automatically trigger life membership.
As expected, the Cowboys had nothing but praise for Granville as he approaches game 200.
“We’re ecstatic Jake has decided to extend for another year,” Cowboys General Manager of Football Micheal Luck said.
“His output on the field this year playing primarily in a new position as a middle forward has been exceptional, but the fact he has taken it in his stride and excelled comes as no surprise to anyone inside our club.”
Luck also praised Granville for leading from the front and for guiding the rookies at the club.
“He sets standards in his preparation, the way he trains and how he recovers – he is the perfect example for our younger players to show what it takes to be a long-term NRL player,” Luck said.
“We’re thrilled to have Jake in our playing group for another year.”
