Part of a recent merry-go-round of moves, one of those dominoes to fall was the signing of Moses Mbye to Super League side, St Helens.
Mbye has signed with St Helens on a two-and-a-half year deal and joins the club with pedigree, versatility and experience.
His former NRL club, the St George Illawarra Dragons, wished Mbye all the best in his endeavours with St Helens.
“There has been an opportunity come up for Moses which we are supportive of,” said Dragons General Manager of Football Ben Haran.
“It gives him a chance to further his career and is a great opportunity for him and his young family.
“He’s been a wonderful servant of the game for a long period of time and we wish him all the best in the nest phase of his career and thank him for his contribution to the Dragons over the past two seasons.
Mbye himself is thrilled to join the club and to work alongside Paul Wellens.
“I’m wrapped,” said Mbye ecstatically.
“It’s something that I’m so grateful for, to be part of a club with such success and such rich history.
“I’m keen to come over and learn from the current squad and off Wello (Paul Wellens) and be part of a club with such a great culture.
Mbye believes his versatility is one of his greatest assets and he looks forward to the competition for spots at St Helens.
“My versatility is an asset I’ve got to develop over a number of years now, with my conversations with Paul that’s what I’m here to do, to be part of the squad and fulfil any role that is needed to be filled – but I want to earn my spot too,” continued Mbye.
“It’s a good opportunity to come over, add some healthy competition to what is already a really successful squad, and earn my spot.”
Wellens is also pleased to have the versatile Mbye on board and backs him to hit the ground running.
“Moses is a proven player in the NRL and a player who has had experience playing in big games, most notably State of Origin, and he gives us great versatility too in his ability to play in a number of positions,” said Wellens.
“Off the back of our conversations with him, we know how excited and enthusiastic he is to be part of our club. We’re delighted he has chosen to make the move to come and join us.”
