The St George Illawarra Dragons and Hame Sele are no strangers to each other but the reunion is on, as the talented forward rejoins the club on a three-year deal.
Sele, a Kingsgrove junior, made his debut for the Dragons back in 2017 but only mustered up eight games at the time.
Since then, he has had stints at both the Penrith Panthers and most recently, the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
A few years older and wiser, Sele has become a consistent performer and becomes the first official signing for the 2024 season for the Dragons, the Shane Flanagan era.
Sele drew praise from the Rabbitohs Head of Football Mark Ellison.
“Hame has done a great job for us over the past three-and-a-half years and he will be a quality player for his next Club next season,” said Ellison.
“In saying that, he still has a big and important role to play for us for the remainder of this season and we look forward to his performances in the red and green for the rest of this year.”
The Dragons are pleased that they have had the opportunity to bring back a local junior in Sele knowing he has improved since his first stint at the club.
“We’re excited to bring a local St George junior back to the club, particularly one who is now an established and consistent starting NRL forward,” said Dragons General Manager of Football Ben Haran.
“Hame’s qualities as a player and a person will make him a welcome addition to our roster as we move forward as a club.”
