There has been some brief chatter regarding a possible retirement for Mark Nicholls but the veteran prop will run around again in 2025, re-signing at the Dolphins.
At 34 and the back end of his career, Nicholls has produced some quality form in the middle of the pack for the Dolphins, particularly in the absence of Thomas Flegler.
Known in rugby league circles as ‘the GOAT,’ club CEO Terry Reader praised Nicholls professionalism and knows that the fans love him.
“Mark Nicholls has been great for the Dolphins,” said Reader.
““’The Goat’ is loved by the fans and it is fair to say no-one gets a louder cheer than when he scores a try.
“You only had to see the reaction from coach Wayne Bennett and his teammates when he scored that long-range try against the Sea Eagles last week.
“He is a very popular player around the club, and the work he does and the knowledge he imparts in the dressing room to our younger players is as important as what he does on the field.”
Nicholls has so far played in 158 NRL games and has previously had stints at the Canberra Raiders, South Sydney Rabbitohs and the Melbourne Storm where he won a premiership.
