A stalwart of women’s rugby league and an inspiration for young, budding athletes, young girls and fans alike will get the chance to see Sammy Bremner again as she returns for the 2024 NRLW season with the Sydney Roosters.

After a stellar playing career from 2011-2022 that included many accolades, Bremner initially retired in January 2023 to focus on her family.

It was back in 2022 when she joined the Roosters and her exploits there saw her take out the Dally M Award for best fullback as well as the RLPA Award for best fullback.

Roosters coach John Strange knows the impact that Bremner has had on women’s rugby league in Australia and he is stoked to see her revive her passion and come back to help the club out.

“Sam has already made a significant impact on the sport, and we are thrilled to welcome her back,” Strange said.

“Her decision to come out of retirement speaks volumes about her passion for the game and this Club.”

Although she will return to the club, Strange admitted that they will not rush her back into the NRLW team as they know she will have to re-acclimatise herself to the daily rigors that come with a full NRLW season.

“Sam’s skill, experience and leadership are second to none and her presence will be a huge asset to our squad,” Strange continued.

“While Sam is incredibly fit and has a very strong footy IQ, we won’t be rushing her into the side before she has had the opportunity to reacquaint herself with the rigors of NRLW training,”
