The Newcastle Knights told opposition teams that they are still potent opponents with a 46-10 demolition of the Gold Coast Titans in the NRLW.
It took just 70 seconds for the Knights to score the opening try when Yasmin Clydsdale pounced on an error from the Titans.
Knights fullback Tamika Upton then began to stamp some authority into the contest when she fired a cut-out pass out wide for Shanice Parker to score.
It soon became 18-0 when Sheridan Gallagher took an intercept which led to a chip from Georgia Roche and a try for Upton who won the race to the ball.
Olivia Higgins then continued her good form when she darted over from dummy half to catch the defenders off guard.
This was soon followed by a second try for Clydsdale as she powered through some soft Titans defence.
The Knights would then be beating the clock when Upton was again involved, this time lofting a pass to Gallagher to score on the opposite wing.
After 31 minutes, the Knights led 34-0.
The defence of the Titans improved in the second half but it couldn’t stop a second try for Parker who combined with Jesse Southwell and Gallagher in the lead-up.
Upton and Gallagher combined again to gift the winger her hat-trick in a quality display.
The Titans would eventually get on the board through Georgia Grey but the Knights bounced straight back when Abigail Roache found Tenika Willison.
The final try was scored by the Titans as Laikha Clarke was able to power her way over.
In the end, it was not pretty for the Titans who have been unable to reach the heights of last season where they made the grand final.
