It was not that long ago that Josh Addo-Carr was sacked by the Canterbury Bulldogs after he failed a roadside drug test. Fast forward to the present day and the speedy winger has a new club, the Parramatta Eels.

The Eels, who have undergone somewhat of a revamp under new coach Jason Ryles, have added the veteran NRL winger to their roster for 2025.

There is a club option in place for 2026; an overall deal that surprised many Eels fans.

The Eels have long lacked genuine speed and athleticism in a winger and will now have that in Addo-Carr.

Ryles is no stranger to the winger having worked with him when Addo-Carr was at the Melbourne Storm several years ago.

“I’ve had the privilege of working with Josh before, and I know first-hand just how much he brings to a team—his speed is electric, and his ability to break open games is second to none. What’s even more important is his commitment,” Ryles said.

“Josh is a player who has always been determined to improve and challenge himself, and I’m confident he will make the most of this opportunity with our Club.”

With over 100 NRL tries, two premierships, and stints at the Storm, the Wests Tigers and the Canterbury Bulldogs, Addo-Carr is grateful for the opportunity to prove himself once more.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity Parramatta and Jason have given me to continue my footy career and I’m ready to repay the faith they’ve shown in me,” Addo-Carr said.

“Coming here is a chance for me to start a new chapter, prove myself and show what I can do for the Club and the fans.  I can’t wait to put on the Blue and Gold and become a part of this Club and the Eels community.”
