Xavier Savage, one of the Canberra Raiders most exciting talents, has re-signed with the club until the end of the 2027 season.
Savage had arguably, a career best year in 2024, scoring 15 tries in 24 games and impressing the Canberra hierarchy.
Savage’s deal is an extension of his current one, having already been contracted for season 2025 and the fullback can’t see himself playing anywhere else.
“I’m clearly very happy here and I am happy to stay here with the Raiders,” Savage said.
“I’m just glad that the deal is done and I’m locked in for a further two years. I just can’t wait.”
Although Savage is pleased with his 2024 went, he wants to get even better next year and beyond.
“I’m very happy with how I went last year but I’ve definitely got a lot more left in the tank,” Savage continued.
“Now it’s time to keep training hard and turn it up again next year. It’s exciting.
“This has become my second home now. I love Canberra and I’m trying to build a legacy down here.”
Still only 22, the club know that Savage has a long and bright future ahead of him.
“We’ve always known Xavier had the talent to make it in the NRL, but this year in particular he showed the club his desire to work hard and take his game to the next level,” Raiders CEO Don Furner said.
“Xavier is still very young at age 22 and we know he still has his best football in front of him and we’re happy it’s with the Raiders.”
