As the Melbourne Storm brace themselves for several departures for 2023, they will also welcome two new signings with Tariq Sims and Joe Chan to join.

Sims, who is known as a hard-runner and strong hitter, has played for several teams across the NRL so far in his career.

Sims has played for the North Queensland Cowboys, the Newcastle Knights, and most recently, the St George Illawarra Dragons.

With 209 NRL games to his name to date, as well as five tests for Fiji and five appearances for NSW, Sims brings plenty of experience.

Also joining is Joe Chan, who is the father of Alex Chan, a former rugby league player himself with the Storm and other sides.

Chan is a versatile forward, able to play both back-row or in the middle and at just 20 years old, has played in 12 games so far for the Catalans Dragons.

Although he will leave the Dragons at the end of the year, Chan says his time at Catalans has been special and it will always feel like home for him.

“I will always call Catalans Dragons my home and a family of mine,” Chan said.

“I had an opportunity to play for another elite club. I will continue to do my best for the club and hopefully win a title by the years’ end.

I’m forever grateful to Bernard Guasch, his family, and the club.”
