With no Teagan Berry, the St George Illawarra Dragons would be a vastly different team, so the chance to keep her around until 2026 was far too good for the club to pass up.

Still only 22, Berry has been with the club since 2020 when she debuted as an 18-year-old and holds the club record for most tries in a match, most points in a match and most tries in both a match and a season.

Berry, a Shellharbour junior, was a key retention for the Dragons club and new head coach Nathan Cross knew it was a priority.

“Extending Teagan was a priority for us heading into the new season,” Cross said.

“She’s one of the game’s stars and has been a really important member of the squad for a number of years.

“She’s really starting to come into her own on and off the field and has been quite diligent in trying to perfect her craft as a fullback.”

Cross knows about Berry’s try-scoring exploits as a fullback but also praised the way she is starting to completely understand the one percent factors that come with the position.

“Everyone knows about her try-scoring ability but being a great fullback means being great at the little things too and she’s beginning to understand that,” Cross continued.

“We’re excited to see what the future holds for Teagan.”

Berry said she’s excited for the upcoming season with the Dragons.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to extend my time here at the club and I’m looking forward to the season ahead,” Berry said.
