The Newcastle Knights have moved to shore up some NRLW talent with the addition of Tori Shipton on a two-year deal from 2027.

Shipton, who is still only 18, has played for the NSW U19 Origin side and played for Australia in the Prime Minister’s XIII side.

Those two achievements, along with her NRLW debut, have the Knights and coach Ben Jeffries excited about what she can do in the league when she gets a proper opportunity.

“Tori signing is exciting for our club,” said Jeffries.

“She is tenacious, tough and possesses explosive speed, which fits exactly what we were looking for to complement our squad.”

Jeffries knows that signing Shipton is just the start, with the club’s recruitment strategy being very pointed and finite.

“Our recruitment has been strategic, including a clear lens on what our squad needs moving forward.

“Tori’s experience for an 18-year-old is very impressive, with significant upside and a large ceiling for continued growth, making her a key signing for the Newcastle Knights.”
