The Canberra Raiders have officially finalised their top NRLW squad of 24 with the signing of Grace Kukutai on a two-year deal.

Kukutai joins the Raiders after two seasons with the Newcastle Knights where she played 11 total NRLW games.

Kukutai’s sporting endeavours have been vast and expansive; starting out in netball she played for the Mystics and the Magic in the ANZ Championship.

She then transferred to rugby union, playing both in the New Zealand Sevens setup as well as two seasons with the Chiefs Manawa.

As Kukutai’s rugby league journey now continues, Raiders coach Darren Borthwick is excited to have her on board.

“Grace will add to the strength of our forward pack, she’ll add depth and pressure which is good,” said Borthwick.

“She’s done quite well up at the Knights and given her background in multiple sports, she’ll be quite handy for us. She’ll be a good addition to the squad.

“She’s someone who has got a lot of values and holds her standards quite high.”

With one session already under her belt, Kukutai is loving her time at the Raiders and is excited for what lies ahead.

“I’m really excited to work with Bortho and the girls have been lovely and the organisation has been great,” said Kukutai.

“I’m also really excited to play with people like Simaima and the quality of players here.

“I’ve only had one session with the squad and I’ve already learnt lots.”
