The latest Wallaroos player to try her hand in the NRLW is Arabella McKenzie who has signed with the St George Illawarra Dragons for the 2026 NRLW season.
McKenzie, a star of the Wallaroos, has played 28 games across multiple positions in rugby union but she is no stranger to the game of rugby league.
Growing up in Lightning Ridge, although her playing career has always been about the Wallaroos, McKenzie admits that she was a Dragons fan growing up.
“I’ve been a Dragons supporter my whole life, so when Crossy reached out I knew it was right,” said McKenzie.
“There’s no club I’d rather be a part of.”
With a flawless technique, a world of experience and a smooth kicking game, Dragons NRLW coach Nathan Cross believes McKenzie can transition between the two codes seamlessly.
“Arabella is a really exciting addition for us. She’s such an accomplished athlete already and I’m really looking forward to being a part of her transition to rugby league,” said Cross.
She possesses a skillset and variety of physical attributes which I’m really confident will make the process smooth.
“She is one of the most competent kickers of the football I have ever seen in the female game.
“We are excited for her to meet the rest of the squad and staff and really hit the ground running as she takes on a new challenge.”
