Speculation was rife that Roger Tuivasa-Sheck would depart the New Zealand Warriors but no-one expected Wakefield Trinity to be the team to sign him.
However, from 2027, that is exactly what will happen, with the English outfit winning the race to sign the Kiwi international.
With more than 230 top flight NRL appearances and a premiership in 2013, Tuivasa-Sheck has forged a strong career as a fullback, centre and winger.
Tuivasa-Sheck admits that he is excited for what lies ahead and he will not be alone with former Warriors teammate Jazz Tevaga also at the club.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to join Wakefield and compete in the Super League,” Tuivasa-Sheck said.
“My family & I are really excited for the move and new challenge.
From the conversations I’ve had, I can see the club is heading in a really positive direction and I’m looking forward to being part of that journey.”
Wakefield coach Daryl Powell knows how big of a signing someone like Tuivasa-Sheck.
“We are delighted to bring Roger to Wakefield,” Powell said.
“We are obviously an ambitious Club and signing Roger shows that once again.”
“He’s a super high-quality signing for both the super league competition and of course for Wakefield Trinity and we look forward to welcoming him into our family and helping us achieve our ambitions in the near future.”
