Shannon McDonnell walks out on Tigers

Shannon McDonnell Wests Tigers Newcastle KnightsRookie Tigers Fullback Shannon McDonnell has quit the club today, securing a release to immediately join the Newcastle Knights.

Only 21, McDonnell has shown promise at the Wests club – but has been locked in a battle for the custodian role with Shannon Gallant and Tim Moltzen.

Unable to secure the fullback spot permanently, it seems McDonnell has cut his losses and run.

The move is an interesting one, given that his father is the recruitment manager at the Wests Tigers.

The Tigers club will be moving to ensure the relocation is a quick and painfree one, not wanting any loss of focus from players in the coming weeks.
