Quade Cooper and Sonny Bill Williams

He has had links to the NRL for quite some time now, and this is the biggest indication yet that he is ready for a new challenge, with Wallabies and Reds star Quade Cooper, eager to one day play NRL, alongside his mate, Sonny Bill Williams.

As they brace themselves for a clash with the Springboks, Cooper spoke about the idea of playing in the NRL, with Sonny Bill Williams attempting to coax his mate into playing in the NRL in 2013.

“We’ve definitely had a chat about it and it’s more about playing with each other,” Cooper told said.

“It’s something that I’d really like to do in the future. And seeing what he’s (Williams) done in rugby, and having a talent like that in and around you would be a massive achievement to play with.

“Whether it’d be in rugby or league it’d be something that I’d definitely be open-minded about.”

Cooper, who only recently accepted a 3-year deal by the Australian Rugby Union in June, has yet to sign his top-up contract, leaving him a free agent for the time being.

“My job at the moment is being the best No.10 I can be for the Wallabies and then concentrate on my future after that,” Cooper said.

“I’ve got a manager to do that.”
