New Zealand Warriors loanee signing Jack Hetherington
Penrith Panthers hulking prop Jack Hetherington will join the New Zealand Warriors on loan effective immediately. The move comes after former loanee, Poasa Faamausili, was recalled by the Sydney Roosters in light of their injury crisis. The Warriors are after a big man and have been impressed with Hetherington’s performances in the past for the Panthers. “(Head coach) Ivan Cleary, the Panthers and the NRL have been terrific in making Jack available so quickly after we lost Poasa,” said Vodafone Warriors recruitment manager Peter O’Sullivan. “Jack had a breakout year in 2018 and will give us the qualities we’re looking for, a big man in the middle who carries the ball strongly and is tough defensively. “As we saw with Poasa, loan agreements have great benefits for both clubs involved.” Hetherington has some rugby league pedigree in his blood. He is the son of Brett Hetherington, a former Canberra Raiders and North Queensland Cowboys forward. He is also the grandson of Roosters great Bill Mullins and the nephew of Raiders great Brett Mullins.
