Many Parramatta Eels fans were resigned to the fact that boom prop Reagan Campbell-Gillard was leaving.

However, in a turn of events, Campbell-Gillard will remain at the Eels after signing a new contract until the end of 2025.

Campbell-Gillard was originally linked with a new move to new franchise, the Dolphins.

It is the Eels who have gotten the last laugh, however, after a media firestorm regarding their approach to player retention.

Campbell-Gillard had made a name for himself as a no-nonsense prop and a crucial player for the Eels.

His retention is one that Eels General Manager of Football Mark O’Neill knows fans can be proud of.

“I would like to congratulate Reagan and his partner Alira on his new deal which is exciting news for our Members and fans,” said O’Neill.

His aggression and consistency in particular, are two assets that O’Neill praised.

“Reagan has connected well with everyone at our club, is a vital member of our squad and adds a level of aggression needed to compete at NRL level,” O’Neill continued.

“We are extremely pleased that he and Alira have chosen to stay with the Eels and be part of the exciting future ahead for our Club.

He is one of the best front rowers in the NRL and loves playing in the big games.”
