It probably was not the way that Keegan Hipgrave would have wanted his rugby league career to end but life and health come first.
At just 24, Hipgrave has made the decision to retire from rugby league due to concussion issues.
After seeking medical advice on the back of a concussion sustained late in the 2021 season, Hipgrave made the call for his wellbeing.
Most recently, Hipgrave had been playing for the Parramatta Eels and before that, for the Gold Coast Titans.
Keegan received plenty of praise from Eels General Manager of Football Mark O’Neill for his brave decision.
“Keegan has been a wonderful addition to our Club and a very popular member of the team,” said O’Neill.
“While it’s a shame his career has prematurely come to an end due to injury, the health and wellbeing of our players is always our first priority”
“We wish Keegan and his partner Izzy all the best of luck with their future.”
