The Gold Coast Titans will have one goal in mind for season 2024, an NRLW premiership, and their campaign is off to a perfect start after a nice win over the St George Illawarra Dragons.
It was catapulted by a starring performance from Evania Pelite and a hat-trick for Emily Bass on the left wing.
The Titans win was necessitated by their ability to control the game and enjoy a mountain of possession that allowed them time to score their points.
Bass’ first try would just see her stroll over untouched after Lauren Brown was able to bamboozle defenders with several dummies.
The second try, also for Bass, was a near carbon copy, as the Titans continue to pepper the right edge defence of the Titans.
The two superstars in Brown & Pelite than combined with the half laying a perfect pass for the fullback to rush onto and power over.
Not to be outdone, though, Dragons superstar Teagan Berry sparked the Dragons’ first try; making a half break and offloading before Bobbi Law did the rest to score.
Creating momentum would be one of the biggest Achilles’ heels for the Dragons, however, as they allowed the Titans to score again for Bass’ third.
Pelite was involved again, this time firing the pass out to Bass who had another simple putdown.
Berry would give the Dragons a slither of hope as she sliced and diced her way through some soft defence to score.
But it would be all she wrote as no points were scored after Berry’s try and the Dragons are left to rue a lack of discipline.
