The future of Selwyn Cobbo has been the talk of the town in recent weeks since he was dropped by current Brisbane Broncos coach Michael Maguire.
There was the speculation that he would leave the club before the June 30 deadline but the Broncos denied that chance to rival NRL clubs.
So instead, the Dolphins have dived in headfirst and signed Cobbo for the 2026 season.
Cobbo comes with plenty of talent, excitement and hope despite what has been a tumultuous last few months at the Broncos.
The utility back has played in 80 NRL games to date, made six Origin appearances for Queensland and earned a Test debut for Australia in 2023.
In spite of all that, the Dolphins know what Cobbo can bring to the table and CEO Terry Reader is pleased to get him on board for a season.
“The Dolphins have always said we are about continuing to build a roster that will make us one of the top teams in the NRL,” said Reader.
“Selwyn is an accomplished player who has done some amazing things at both Origin and NRL level already.
“But we believe he has untapped potential to go to even greater heights in our game and are excited about what he can do in a Dolphins jersey.”
Cobbo will officially join Dolphins camp in November when pre-season for 2026 begins.
