The York Valkyrie have further strengthened their 2026 side with the edition of former NRLW centre Monique Donovan.

Donovan, who previously had a stint with the Parramatta Eels, scoring eight tries in 15 games.

Her time at the Cronulla Sharks was also impressive, where she was captain of the victorious Sharks side in the Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership grand final.

That same season saw her take out the award for the competition’s best player with Donovan also having a prior appearance for the Indigenous All-Stars to her name.

Donovan said she is excited with the opportunity ahead of her.

“I’m really excited about this next chapter,” Donovan said.

“Joining the Valkyrie for the 2026 season is an incredible opportunity, and I’m proud to be part of such an ambitious and growing team.
“Moving from Australia to the UK was a big step, but it’s an opportunity I’m incredibly grateful for.
“It’s a chance I’ve taken to challenge myself both on and off the field, and I can’t wait to get started with the girls and contribute positively to something special this season.”
