Needing to find a replacement for the departing Lachlan Fitzgibbon, the Knights may have found their man with Jed Cartwright to join from the 2024 season.

Cartwright will join the Knights on a two-year deal and it is his versatility that could prove handy for the Novocastrians.

Cartwright, who has most recently played for the South Sydney Rabbitohs, has played in 30 NRL games, 29 of which came with the Rabbitohs.

The Knights Director of Football Peter Parr praised Cartwright and believes he can be a good fit for the side moving forward.

“Jed has been involved with top tier clubs during his rugby league career,” Parr said.

“He has an excellent work ethic and an ability to play different positions.

“We are seeking good character for the Knights, Jed brings those traits and we have no doubt his best football is ahead of him.”

Cartwright was also praised by Rabbitohs Head of Football Mark Ellison, who said that when he has played, he has proven himself to be a valuable asset.

“Jed has been a valuable member of our squad and has performed well when he’s had the opportunity to get on the field,” Ellison said.

“He is a great teammate and comes from a fantastic family, and we wish him the best of luck with his new club from next season.

“In the meantime, Jed will play a key role in our push towards a finals berth and our campaign to win our 22nd Premiership this year.”
