Sheridan Gallagher has a new home in the NRLW from next season, signing a deal with the Canberra Raiders.

Gallagher’s deal at the Raiders will be for two seasons as she joins from the Newcastle Knights after scoring 25 tries in 32 games for the Novocastrians.

Still only 23, Gallagher was a part of the Knights premiership winning side in 2023 and is also a star soccer player.

Her ability to score tries at will, highlight her finishing ability and Raiders coach Darren Borthwick praised her overall play.

“Three years ago Sheridan was relatively new to the sport and she went and played a few games at Mounties our feeder club which was good and then took an option with Newcastle,” said Borthwick.

“She went up there and developed her game and when Sheridan was available it was a great opportunity to reconnect with her and give her the option to come down to the Raiders.

“To get someone of Sheridan’s calibre and that element of professionalism with the sport that she’s been in prior to rugby league is terrific. She’ll definitely add to our squad and we very much look forward to getting her here.”

Gallagher admits that moving down to Canberra is a big challenge but it’s one she is excited about.

“I’m very keen to come down here to Canberra and take on a new challenge,” said Gallagher.

“It’s exciting to play with a new group of girls and to learn and build on what I’ve already got,” Gallagher said.

“I feel I’ve stepped out my comfort zone already a few times.

“This will obviously be another huge step for me but it’s a challenge I’m looking forward to.”
