In the eyes of many fans, Selwyn Cobbo can be a rocks or diamonds player but there is no doubting his ability and the Dolphins see that as they hand him a new deal for 2027.
To the optimistic person, one year suggests a move to the newly created PNG Chiefs may be on the cards for 2028 but that is looking too far ahead.
Still only 23, Cobbo has shown that he can be a solid performer on the first-grade stage with 51 tries from 89 games to date.
Signing with the Dolphins for 2027 also provides some depth and competition at the club, with Jack Bostock and Tevita Naufahu both also itching for a spot on the wing.
Cobbo also provides positional value, a key trait for any backs as club CEO Terry Reader believes Cobbo will only get better in Dolphins’ colours.
“Selwyn has already made his presence felt at the Dolphins – both on the field and off it,” Reader said.
“What has been most impressive is how well he has melded into our playing group and the club in general.
“He has been a great fit for the Dolphins, and I know the environment around our club is something Selwyn has enjoyed.
“We believe this contract extension is just the start of what will be a long career for Selwyn in the Dolphins’ jersey.”
