The preparation for NSW Origin begins today with the ‘Blues in waiting’ camp beginning today at the Pullman Hotel in Sydney Olympic Park.

For Blues coach Ricky Stuart, he sees the camp as a fundamental part of the process for NSW Origin, as he aims to beat a QLD side, that is arguably, the greatest in the history of Origin.

“Origin victories are built on the culture and attitude of players and their desire to have respect for the NSW jumper,” Stuart said.

“Preparations for a State of Origin Series are vastly different to the weekly grind of the NRL so if we can start to address certain aspects of our preparation over the weekend then the camp will be a success.”

Geoff Carr, the New Souths Wales Rugby League General Manager believes that the camp will be a great learning experience for both the players, and for the coaching staff.

“The strength of this squad shows the quality and depth of talent New South Wales has,” Carr said.

“The majority of these players have progressed through our junior development pathways and I think this camp is an important innovation in bridging the gap between the NSW under 18 side and Origin football.”

The three day camp will begin today, and end on Sunday.
