Paul Carter

His past is well documented as are his indiscretions that resulted in his sacking by the Gold Coast Titans, his now former club, but with time comes a new opportunity.

Paul Carter has spades of talent but has been under-utilised because of his indiscretions but he now has a chance to make amends, signing with the South Sydney Rabbitohs for the remainder of the 2015 season and for 2016.

At 23, Carter is a former Australian Schoolboy representative, a NSW Under 20’s representative and played for his former club the Titans on 21 occasions after making his debut in 2014.

Having given the club reassurances about his ambitions and how he wants to succeed, the club signed him and coach Michael Maguire is pleased to have the utility on board.

“Paul showed during his time at the Titans that he is a quality NRL footballer and we’re looking forward to working with him and bringing him into our Club and our culture,” Maguire said.

“Paul is very capable of performing consistently at the top level and with hard work and dedication he will have opportunities to ply his trade here at South Sydney.

“Paul will join our squad this week and during our discussions he has indicated that he will be working very hard to earn a place in our top 17.”

Carter has always been a fan of support and bonding and with the chance to experience a close-knit club and community at the Bunnies, he looks forward to making the most of the opportunity.

“The Rabbitohs have shown faith in me as a person and a footballer to get the job done for the Club, and I thank the Club for giving me this opportunity,” Carter said.

“From my meetings with ‘Madge’ and from what I know about the Club, I’m very fortunate to be getting an opportunity to start my career again with such a fantastic Club and it’s something I won’t be taking for granted.

“I can’t wait to get stuck into training with the boys and I’ll be putting my best foot forward on and off the field for South Sydney and the Club’s Members.

“I’m really excited and can’t wait to pull on the famous red and green jersey of the Rabbitohs.”
