As the 2026 NRLW season nears its end, the Newcastle Knights are already planning for 2027 and beyond as they re-sign star international duo Georgia Roche and Sidney Taylor to new deals.
Roche, an English international, has signed a new long-term deal until the end of 2030 which will take her time in Knights’ colours up to seven years after debuting in 2023.
Joining the club from Leeds, Roche has become a focal point at the club and NRLW coach Ben Jeffries believes she is a player the Knights can build their team around.
“Georgia is a priority signing and important foundation for our club to build around,” Jeffries said.
“We firmly believe Georgia is coming into the prime of her career at 26 years of age.
“She has led the team in her transition to halfback, and we know she will only get better as the years unfold and her combination with Kirra continues to build.”
For Taylor, who joined the club just this season after transitioning from rugby sevens, has an impressive international pedigree with the Australian sevens setup to her name.
Jeffries praised Taylor’s transition to the NRLW given her natural ability and technique.
“Sidney’s transition from Rugby Sevens to the NRLW has been remarkable,” Jeffries said.
“She has inspired her teammates, and it was an easy decision to extend her contract until the end of 2028.
“We were always confident Sidney would transition well given her professionalism and athletic ability. She has stepped into the NRLW with a bang, and her impact has been immediate.
