The new-look Canterbury Bulldogs side under head coach Mark O’Meley had made its first major signing for NRLW 2027, adding Mercedes Taulelei-Siala on a two-year deal.
Still only 20, a breakout season in 2026 saw Taulelei-Siala named the NRLW Rookie of the Year during her time at the Newcastle Knights.
That honour and her form saw her earn selection for Samoa at the Rugby League World Cup.
With 13 tries in just 12 games, Taulelei-Siala made a name for herself on the wing and O’Meley backs the winger to be a strong, consistent performer.
“Mercedez has had a massive year with the Knights and to top that off by being named in the Samoan World Cup squad is a huge achievement,” he said.
“We’re really happy to have her join us at the Bulldogs for 2027. She’s had a great year and deserves the opportunities that are coming her way.
“I’m looking forward to getting her into our environment and seeing what 2027 brings for her.”
